If you are going to install NTC ADSL for browsing the internet, you have to manually configure the router. The manual of your Router do not contain the settings, so here we are to guide you through a process of configuring your router for NTC ADSL.

The snapshot are from a W-Link ADSL Router, however you can configure other brand routers with the same settings. If you have trouble in configuring the router, you are welcome to leave a comment below or contact us through our 'Contact Us' page.

Configuring router for NTC ADSL -

1. Go to your browser and type 192.168.1.1 in the address bar.

2. The page will prompt you to enter username and password. Enter, user name and password both as 'admin'. The default username and password for most of the router is 'admin'. If entering 'admin' does not work, you can find the username and password written in the box that contained the router.

After entering the username and password the router set-up page will open. Now from here you can either use a 'Set -Up wizard' to configure or configure from the 'Network' tab.

a. Using Set-up Wizard - 

Click on 'Wizard' tab usually located at the top menu. Enter '8' as VPI value and '81' as the VCI value and click on 'next'.

In the connection type menu, select 'routed/ router' for WAN Connection type and 'LLC/SNAP' for Encapsulation mode and click on 'next'.

 In the WAN IP settings menu, select 'obtain an ip addresse automatically' and 'obtain DNS server addresses auctomatically' and check on 'enable NAT' and click 'next'.

The LAN Interface Setup page will open with the following values, leave them as they are and click on 'next'.

In the next page that you see, click on 'Finish'.

b. Configuring from the 'Network' tab -

Click on 'Network' Tab at the top menu and then on 'WAN'

Now, on the page that opens, set the values as shown on the screenshot below,
Defult Route Selection - Auto
VPI - 8
VCI - 81
Encapsulation - LLC
Channel Mode - PPPoE
Check 'Enable NAPT' and 'Enable IGMP'

In the PPP Settings, enter the username and password (the username and password are provided by NTC is in the 'adslxxxxxx' format) and choose type 'continuous'.

Lastly click on add button.

Thats it. Now you can surf internet using NTC ADSL.

Further if you want to protect your wifi using a password and enabling MAC filtering follow the steps below.

Enabling Wifi Password

Go to Network >> WLAN and click on 'security'.
Choose 'root' for 'SSID type'
Choose the type of Encryption type from the drop down menu.
For Pre-Shared key format choose 'Passphrase'
Enter the Preshared Key (your desired password) and then ssave it.

Enabling MAC Filtering

Go to Network >> WLAN and then click on 'Access control list'
In 'Wireless Access Control Mode' select 'Allow List' and then click on apply changes.
Now enter the MAC Address that you want to allow and click on add. (The devices in this list will only get access to your wifi)

It is also advisable to protect your router's admin panel with a strong password or the devices that you have granted access can still be able to make changes to the router settings. (It is because almost everyone using router know that the default username and password are both 'admin'.

To do so, login to your router's admin panel using your username and password.
Go to 'Admin' >> 'password'
In the user account table select the radio button with username - admin and previlage - root.
Now enter the old password which is offcourse 'admin' if your haven't changed it before.
Enter your desired 'New Password', Confirm it and click on 'modify'.
Save the changes.
